Notes from 3_21 run...

General Notes For Everyone/Tech

Brendis – let’s talk scrim pace openings—also mic wires are showing a lot more than I have seen before—they are popping out..tape issue?

Really great character moments – please keep it going! 

Hot Mics – still having ppl EXT w talking as walking off.

Keep pace going in every scene from transitions to lines—the show finished about 5 minutes slower than prior night and a few scenes seem to drag on pacing a bit: 1:6 1:8, 1:9, 1:11, 2:3, 2:7 (table not entering on time—dead space):

Lines drops were much less, but there were a few, but far more important lines.  See below for details.

Shadows – when speaking to each other take a step back so stay out of the shadow or pull face back a bit.  We try to limit shadow moments, but we still have a few due to lighting positions we cannot change.  Please be aware.  You can see the shadows as you speak to another actor—look for it and make an adjustment.

Scrim hits were much less, but still had a few:

Jared – come DS more in your fight.  You seemed to do it, but then drifted back up stage on hit scrim on the chris swipe.

Bar Scene in 2:3 – who ever sets table, let’s move it DS more—just give enough room so Athos can walk through, but leave more room US

2:3 cross at beginning by Musketeers – move to CS and cross—Cole you lead this and get 3M off screen and much closed DS.

2:3 cross on Porthos versus the world – Cole  same—keep 3M off the scrim by walking DS closer to CS.

Scabbards/Swords – JonO will show you a trick.

Sc 1.
wonderful—nice work avoiding patrons J

Chris/cole – keep fight more CS – scrim hit.

Good job on comedy.

Transition – great, JT remember to react to gunshots – your being shot at.

Scrim  - only partial opening  on card lines and quick close

Justin, be sure not to drift to far SL on your ENT-keep CS to slightly SR.  reason – lights and Jordan positioning

Transition to Sc 3. – great.  Good work

Really good stuff. Nice fight, good line work, great character all the way around

Bottle – come down on him a little more Ragan

Sword break – Rochefort See Adrian to show you how to break cleanly without having to crack over you knee as hard—just drop on floor—do not throw on floor.

Sweeper – check out girls, do not stop sweeping, but be more in character—

SM – let’s tape a couple towels to the bottom of broom and maybe make a little less noise?

Cole –great horse pull

Best light is Mid Stage – everyone move to Mid stage when possible.

Great – flowed well.  Loved all the bumps—really funny

Kiara and Steph – great!!!!!!!!!!

Ben – stop SL just before EXT and peel and eat banana ---I need Athos to have a reason to pause…we like it too.,..take one bite and enjoy and move offstage…

Cole – keep coming DS more to help Justin open up more to audience we lose some of his lines looking more US.

Timing was bit fast on cape collision, but it worked—rather early than late.

Jared/Cole – keep DS after bump – you both actually drifted back US after lines started prior to steph leaving and then when you came back went back DS after.  Good job posting up DS at beginning however—move DS after bump more…you  are not in the light—light is more CS—I cannot move lights…

Cole – maybe the first part of your monologue is to the puppet?   Let’s discuss.  Work it out today?

Cameron – good job on puppet and getting your table J--go ahead and preset your table. Let me show you where we need to sit..it;s going to be less tucked.  I may have to stay just until Darty delivers his first line to you and then puppets get sad and one tries to comfort him, but he walks away and you show sadness and then pack up and leave – need a tip jar.

Ben – watch sword pull on fight w Cole – came close to Jon O

Loved – watch pacing a bit

Queen – How dare you, look at him, fan down then stand and start crossing on I am THE QUEEN.

Ben – come more CS less SL..get into the light.

Mark/Ben – the choke on Ben turned Mark too far US/SL…can we work on more control there and slow it down a bit so Mark can control it.  We need to see more Mark’s face.  Same for Sc. 9.  Let’s discuss today

Transition to 7 – can we open the scrim slowly allow everyone to move offstage…make

Good job to everyone – good pace.

Jared – bigger on slave to fashion – do not throw it away—you went down on your line instead of up and out…go bigger—be bacchus!  Let’s see it today.  I can show you video.  Maybe a spin after slave to fashion?

Justin/Cole – great duel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jared/Jordan ---great color to the duel—loved it..the laughing, fun. – keep that up/

Ben – guards – classic stuff!

3M – great lines on how many—snappy! Loved it.

Jared – I loved your spin and snappynesss of how you handle Taylor, but I still need those lines on jaundice… I think you can still move fast and keep it moving without pausing still—it’s just a little longer. We have sound set for your line to happen—music comes down and there is a big low point if you drop lines

Morgan/Jordan/Paul – you came DS more, but then drifted far right near walls so you are not in light….stay CS on all that—you also came close to Cole’s fight….;=0

JonO thank you for leading that fix w Cole.

JonO/Cole – your cross seemed a bit slow and methodical—pace it a little quicker.

Jared – do nto drop your lines Jaundice on taylor – I need it—audience will not know he does not have jaundice because we can see him and even if he did not, that might be the joke..the point is that Porthos is just so Dang Fun!!!!  Same for shoe is untied

JT on shoe tie—because you are being thrown in, which I like---do not look down, just go.

Jared – I like the shoe untied and he runs off bit---make it big—do not drop.

Transition into 8-nice work peeps!

The bar scene though good –seemed to drag a bit…let’s move the pace along quickly—it’s a stop over and you have to get going—Kiara can help there too.

Jordan – bigger on the la rochhelle bizness—it drives you nuts that Porthos does not still recall larochelle..

Porthos v world – great!!!!!   One thing 3M move more DS off scrim as you are crossing—darty lead that

Surprise attack – great, just keep heads up – Justin and Cole your heads seem to stay  down too much—get faces up in light.

Transition to 4

Scrim-give a partial opening for milady and then as she moves, open further…

Good reactions guys—move it along a little more clip and Cole cheat out a little on the rail.

Sc 5

Great! Loved energy smiles, etc.  noticed the dress situation, but crowd did not.

Mark, Ragan, Ben – great stuff—Ben – Mammal to Mark then start looking b ig…as you turn and say it we lose it—I am okay with you turning but cheat out if so otherwise look at mark deliver and turn.

King/Queen—thank you for that tango pause on each other—it works so well audience reacted and starting paying attention as you both stared, make big looks at each other and cross.

King – are you going to count in french

Jordan/Morgan – GREAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT keep that chemistry—big laughs, wow, flirting big and then whammo---the brother lines are classic moment in the show.

Everyone – great being in the moment!  Loved it—everyone..watch the video.

Excellent coving DSL – 3M cole and Morgan – one thing—Jared do not drop your line—he is counting them—it sets it all up for the diversion…

Transition into 6 – dancers great job!

At end after tattoo opening- keep heads above rail—we lost some of it.

Ragan/Morgan – These notes are from Jonny paraphrased who watched from audience.

 Ragan, one bruce lee moment beat on lip on slap, then turn and get going into fight—pause it too long—needs to go fast. 

Ragan/Morgan - The beginning is strong!  Good stuff.—from morgan’s table throw to end of scene, it drifts down on energy and technique and selling until you hit the floor. Morgan fly over table more speed—bigger. still too much marking—remember you are trying to kill each other—sell on desperate action.  Trust each other and not worry about the other person not being there—trust the moves—do not mark them.  let’s discuss…sword placements are correct, but you are not placing w intent..you are placing to catch the sword.  thrusts need to look like you are trying to run your sword through and know the other fighter will be there to defend .     Let’s take 5 together and discuss.

Great job on death scenes.

Transition into 10 – great,

I am making one  change you will notice—ron will not bring up blue light for 2 beats after dead have left stage, so please hold coming on

Adrian – I know it will delay, but please wait until blue light to come into doorway uptop…

Everyone see me to discuss lighting location for end scene after kneel. - Jared, Justin, stay on the line on stage—do not drop in too far DS for the ending lines – where a majority of light is located….Morgan/Cole – see if you can move more CSSL to allow 3M to get more into light…

Tech:

LQ – little bit brighter on fight scene

GREAAAAAAAAAAAT swording---loved it…

Chris – awesome timing on the jokes—great emphasis and diction on your monologue—you really changed tones to make the words pop. –love the speed of ideals you cherish and slow down, emphasize MAN, inside you…you have to see video.

Loved the kill em lines---it was perfect…laugh to quick snap kill him and that growl you put in there.

Cole – fantastic on your lines about cardinal rich and all your line changes in tone, emphasis—it really was near perfect.   Great they they—great interaction w Sabine and mom, felt like a real family…nice work.  Your eagerness to be like father and please him and show that naivetee, was great…just the right balance. 

Chris – careful on by mercy of GOD that the sword is not in front of your face on that—keep just to right of face.    

Chris/Cole/Sherry/Morgan – great looks on jokes…perfect—big and bold and audience clearly got the jokes…is he talking about meeeee....

But…..first set of horse jokes – you 2 need to really pause and take that out to audience and back at dad for his reaction…big/puzzle—is he talking about you mom/me wife?   Then father can give you that funny headshake and horse neigh hits.

Sherry/Chris – come DS more off scrim when you get sabine.  Need it away and down further—not right on edge of stage, but split difference between scrim and front stage..

Lock in that humor—everyone react to father’s comments on horse big and look at each other, at him to draw people into the humor.

Morgan – being a girl in 17^th century is not much fun—maybe take that out more to audience and really make it more as a matter of fact not just a statement..more emphasis on you know to draw ppl into that line..then do not trail it off—make it a firm statement—I know you are grabbing swords – so really bring swords up more to help little more time to say line.—let’s discuss.

Cole/Morgan – great stuff—best yet.  Morgan Love it your hat fell off and you did not miss a beat…fun---really felt like a brother/sister combo and just the right about of  FUN tension between sabine and darty  without feeling mean spirited. It was classic.  Morgan – on to meet a Musketeer, hold it a bit on those lines…let’s discuss.  Also, take one step stage left to get into light more…you were a bit dark when you travel sr of table or so.

Transition to Sc2 – columns need to come in faster and at same time and lines as soon as columns setg—it was delayed too much.   Let’s discuss what is happening SL.

JT/Cameron – you have to react to gunshots—you are being shot at.  More urgency please in coming on and off..it’s an urgent scene—action.

Sc. 2

Tech

Scrim needs to open as soon as the 3M start running off stage.

LQ off as he says his line – let’s discuss.

Let’s respike columns slightly closer to legs.

3M…loved it.. but, as note above in transition to Sc2. Porthos/cole pop out sooner and bigger lines there to kick us off.

Athos – loved your completely not paying attention and giving an oration—it was so good on the emphasis on words….felt just right.

Cardinal – great stuff—pause was perfect—I really hate them was perfect—it was a statement of fact—here we go again statement like this has happened before—not too long, just right. Love you starting out the line and not finishing—everyone knows what they likely wrote w your line. See video

Rochefort/soliders…really great.  One beat pause after he turns the robe around and starts reading..then go. 

Transition to Sc 3.

Tech. LQ – light needs to come up as soon as Basille enters through door…or make light que happen faster fade up?

Morgan – begin your line OS, pause before entering and let lights come up on you as you enter not as you set DS.  Make sense?  Your lines are in the dark

Column movers – time together please..hard to do, but see each other move in.

Jonathan-make sure leg not caught on door.  – is there anyone else who can help here—the jonathan cross is slowing things down….no offense—I would rather have him on SR ready for his entrance…

Scene Sc3.

Loved the horse pull cole—great job OS.

Morgan you are so perfectly casual about the lines—glove slap, love.

Sherry/Jono – great cross—love it…I know it seems small, but it works so well—thank you for not hitting legs..figruring out your entrance

Sean/Be great intro..

Ben – thanks you for coming DS.

Fight sequence – great—ben be careful—move SR-SL not US/DS…stay centered. 

Cole – as she passes by—during skirt fluff – can you slowly reach for your cape so rochefort reacts faster to you and it moves the scene long—the delay for her to Exit was too long…so as she fluffs and you slowly start working down and grab

Ben – you will see fluff and catch darty reaching so you will not watch her all the way off stage.

Ben  - on caping by cole—move SR not US you hit scrim.then hit again on sword grab when milady came in

Sherry – great, can you come out just a wee bit earlier—work w sean on the signal—also, can you fluff both sides and bigger?

Milady – great timing on entrance and hit—hit needs to be a little less harder so bottle shatters a little less…will expain today.

Ben and whoever is making sword swap – do it right after his line—he is just a country bumpkin—it moves to milady lines and attention is off Ben for 2-3 seconds – enough to make a switch without attention drawn – not on who said that..

Ben – wood sword – keep at side not holding it behind you—they wont know---it hits the scrim

Ragan – knife in chest area only works for the knife pull—othherwise it is hard to put back and in athos scene later in act 2, I need it coming from right side hip area—let’ discuss w costume for tonight.

Ben – go fast on constance bonacieux, go slower on queens lady in waiting—then devilish laugh out on that makes it dangerous…

Ragan – life is dangerous that is why it is fun…let’s go more on FUN – little more devilish…especially if you are going to deemphasize life is dangerous…let’s discuss.

Ragan – do not make it past center stage on cross No you fool…slow down a bit if you have to—your lines end up in the dark to start back.

Ben – bigger on mouth open and shock and awe---liked how you peeked around to see kiss, but let’s get your face up and out as it happens…how bizarre this woman is and how wicked and cool she is.

Snap of sword was good—concerned—take your time a bit…make sure you hold handle so it does not fly away US. And do not throw as hard to floor.

ben – sword just seems weirdly placed—get it in your right hand and do a cross threat not stab…keeps it down too…let’s discuss.

Nice sounds on hit—cole/ragan

Overall nice work peeps…liked it. I know it seems pick like I did not, but I did, just this scene is a challenging one from angles of blocking to lines hitting…you guys did great—best yet, now we tighten.

Transition to Scene 4

Scrim needs to open less haste—to music beat---slow drum beat.

Jared/Jorgan – Jared love your entrance the line get your face out of the book! Can you bring it more DS less SL…maybe angle more DS into light

Barkeep Broom—can get try to cover bristles?  Less noise? 

Jared.Jordan Kiara stepp– some how awk barkeep at somepoint – either look and wonder or giggle or ?  some how walk through or let’s discuss.

Chris – nice work…Chris you can even notice girls for a beat and keep going…they are lovely : -)  pause by putting hands on top of broom and try to flirt?

Girls – take it more into light DS..just around barkeep not directly next to him

Jared/Jorgan –great offstage chatter

Jordan Jared – when you enter – go Center of platform to begin your explanations..let Treville come off platform to stairs..he could not because you were on his stairs…

Chair ended up closer to door..keep closer to the rail to center of platform—seem crowded today…move it back and center a bit.

Adrian – side hook your cape…around your armpit…cross on side facing audience ds.

Cole – when you come in, move quicker to DSR on platform so we can see your ooh and ha on rockstars and see Jared deliver his line

Jared – wait for Cole to clear DSR for your was that an apology – need to see it. Loved it though

Great scene btw  so funny—great timing!  Nice job guys

Cole/Trevill—sogood—great diction and emphasis

Adrian – you sound like your are from Gascony—look up from letter or wine and do not pause on that line—go up instead of down—more positive not as negative sounding and make is more of a bit of questioning more/possibly more interesting---because you are from there—remember---possible link you are finding out…

Cole- great deliver on the line –wears the dress—love how you slowed that down w intrepidation. 

Adrian – your reaction to dress—was classic!!!!!!!!1.—remember to grab map after line, well I lost it and move back DS and read and react during those next lines

Adrian – watch shifting back and forth—you are the captain—hold a more steady, confident posing….less shifting on feet when posted.

Cole/SM – I like it when Darty improv the sword, but I like to see the sword handle if possible—let us know who you need to get it back for this scene or what is happening there…..let’s discuss—did it break and that is what we ended up w?

Adrian – no sword, no letter—quicker, then slow down on Manservant w a dress---

Sc 5/4

Sherry/Rochefort enter more DS away from platform—I want it almost in audience face---near edge of stage—not right on top, but a couple feet us of edge of stage..let’s see how that works tonigt.  Need constance to get by and have her cross more CS.  You can still enter where you are but more more slight angle to DS CS..and back to your normal EXT.

Cole – bigger swing out and feet up…need it further out..remember to give it a tug like you are ripping…pull back on platform and fly away, feet up and out—you need to land CS not US near platform..I will show you video/

ColeAthos good adjustment timing on that bump. Cole if you hit further out it will happen more CSL area.

Great DS work guys!  Thank you….Cole maybe come down a bit faster so audience can see Athos more—he has to look US at you and we cannot see his lines.

Cole – after my manners sir---go faster on your lines---need to get Athos out of the pause—My manners Sir then roll w more pace.

Cole- love your look back and in a hurry stuff—it is much more steady but we got the urgency by your look back and tone changes.  Less frantic feeling, but still urgent—good physicality overall.

Athos – thank you

Cole/athos – love the slap onward---so funny both reactions

Chris/Mark/Chris – any way to turn the flag slightly out to audience—just a bit and keep on a straight line..in fact—can you guys enter from third leg area?  Just DS of stairs?

Jared/Steph – love your entrance, in and pause and steph moves down…really set this up..now, I need the bump on cole to happen much more DS and a little bit more SR, so steph, you come DSR a little more—not to CS but split difference between CS and SL – you hugged curtain too much…that way Jared ends up more CSL…let’s discuss….excellent timing though—Jared – great timing and not signaling the cape flutter..perfect.

Nice work cole on that—loved it…seemed far less staged than ever before—

Steph—nice---flirt a little more—pause maybe and go—

Jared hold on your push until Steph moves way on flirt move.

Jared – be careful of added lines-words—

Kiara/Jordan – kiara—watch the double take before ytour line – come watch video—you guys are great, just one adjustment.

Jordan—great work—love the vocal work, line hits, etc…really great

Kiara – love your various vocals.  But remember we cannot add  lines

Kiara, Sean, Jared, Aramis – see me.

Jordan – keep your chest out shoulders back—you tend to “slouch” a bit for Aramis.  Keep those shoulders high, etc watch posture.

Cole – great work w aramis—loved it1  so funny how you milk the whole hanky bit.

Camaron good work—lean those puppets forward as if to listen..do you have a tip cup?  Need one

Cole/Jordan/Kiara – great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 loved all of it.  The quick snaps on time is great!!!!!!!!!!

Kiara—love you up on stairs and down and dragged out!

Adrian, Cole, - get some coins to drop in the tip cup.

Cole/Cameron – come see me  _I may want god in heavan at the puppets!  Then Cameron you can react w puppets and leave quietly—not abruptly.

Steph/JT – when you stop and whisper—little cheat out to audience…

Steph/Morgan – great exchange there—watch video…

Morgan – great!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

Cole – like it – more positive on the end of that..little more upbeat.  I like it.

Morgan – I wanna see a play in a real theatre---slow on that out to audience and make a subtle reference to our theatre!   Let’s see if it works.

Jono/Roche – Jonno when you land do that leg fall deal…Rochefort you milk that a little more…and show more “Uh OH…reach to him as if “Oh, NO---don’t go”  let’s discuss.  Look at Jono, slowly look back at Cole and “yikes”  OH MY!

Fight looked off a bit—still okay, but seem like we had some breaks?  Beginning looked great, but middle?

Rochefort – watch gun falls

Rochefort – boots up—like it but don’t but do but don’t J

Rochefort – great exit!  Love it…

Bread was awesome—thank you sherry for real bread.

The tonight behind the Luxembourg—ppl loved!   Constance, do not turn away so quickly—serve it up to audience more-let’s discuss if you are not sure..

Transition to 6

Paul get table set on spokes– whole scene hinges on this.

Scrim needs to close as soon as darty crosses mid stage…whole scene pace hinges off this---we cannot set US until closed.  Start closing when  Constance walks off---close at slow pace and darty will make it..

Scene 6

Queen – nice work.

Loved your choices

CaRd/King – what can I say—well played

Paul – great1

Queen – how dare you—one glance as you stand and then move DSR…make sure you move slightly more R of the table so we can get everyone in the scene – I know tables were off, so you have to make adjustments…give enough room for King to walk behind and around you…

GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAt slap and reactions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Check video.

Rochefort – I love your voice choices, but be careful we can understand lines in chokings.  Maybe hold on voice change a little longer in the choke —so you may need to work the diction better.  Love your run ins!    Get into light—it’s a mid stage.

Card – love your tone on choke—look out on all of No I will keep choking…Love LIARRRRRRRRRR! Maybe out to audience.

Great timeing on both lines in end—wounded/good.  Reactions!

Transition to Sc. 7

GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTttttt – love the fact that the garden is gone by te time scrim is open..

Great pace and timing on scrim—good steady pace to the gongs!

Great opening Chris/Athos/Cole.

Sherry – you are a blessing to a director ! thank you—loved your reactions to whose there, look back, then when he walks in and you hear the man who you want to kill, then you look and react slowly to sneak out..! great!

Athos – great, when he says I have all the time—maybe a bigger laughing reaction mixed in there.

Cole – great jump back on not afrai and pause and maybe I am – keep face up

Cole – excellent posture

C ole – fix your hat so we can see your face on DS.  Tilt it up on right side of face?

Aramis do not cross until Jared can get his line out tyrannized by pumps, slave to fashion

Jared – bigger on I had to change for the occasions—like it ‘s a party/event.  Bigger on all those lines…do  not turn away on slave to fashion—be proud…Aramis and Athos have to react to  this.

Jordan – cross after laughing over Jared’s fashion statements and look at the boy closer –show this…

Jared – bigger on Dear god it’s him—

3M – excellent—keep that pace going…I have him at x and I at x…

Ben – walk out, stop, then deliver line—still doing it in motion!

Jared – fix hat to see your right side of face

MQ late music que on thunderstruck – needs to be louder

Jordan – react to Morgan hitting you so lines hit—my servant planchett---she makes a noise, then ting, then it’s this a boy—you have to doubletake prior to this when you first get hit by planchett.

It's imperative that we stick to this! Get to the theatre, get mic'd, and get mic checked. Yes--that quickly. Liz will be ready to mic check early than 615--i will announce when she's ready! 

Other tidbits:

Food/Holding room
The food will be set up in the Fischer. This is also the holding room. Because we have a lot of set pieces coming on and off of SL, I ask that you hang out in the Fischer, rather than backstage.

Minis
A "stage manager mini" will be set up directly behind me at the SM desk, and one in the Fischer. They will be available to you for running to grab you a water, time checks, and shoe shining. ;) Peyton will be your backstage mini for Act I, The Munch will be your Fischer mini. At intermission, they will switch places. If either one of them asks you to report to the SM desk/mic table, etc., please do so immediately. These little ones are well-seasoned actresses, know how this whole thing works, and are doing me and the asst SMs a huge favor by being our runners. 

Mics

Before going out to greet the crowd, you must be de-mic'd. There will be 2 people for de-mic'ing (Brendis and Betsy). Proceed to the mic table and they will work as a pit crew to get you out to the lobby. 

Clean up 
The clean up schedule will be posted in the hallway. We all have to do our part, guys. When we all pitch in, we ALL get to go home faster! 

Show run
It is my absolute pleasure to be your stage manager. I love this theatre, and I love stage managing. Thank you for letting me yell/squeak at you. Thank you for letting me 'sssshhhh!' you. And thank you for giving me this much of your time. It's always so humbling to be surrounded by such hard-working people. 

I will, 85% of the time, be at the desk. Brendis will be manning the scrim on SR, and Betsy will be on SL with me. We are your 'jack of all trades,' so to speak. We fix mics, we mend costumes, we remind you of cues, and we offer support. We're also all on headset. If you're SR and realize your costume is ripped, tell Brendis so she can let us know you're running SL for a fix. Did you forget a prop on SL and need it SR? Let one of us know and we'll get it to where it needs to be. We are here for you. 

P.S. I'm a stickler for starting the show on time. Be on time, don't WASTE time, and we start on time.

Notes from Wednesday run...

Notes 3_18

Everyone read through each scene--there are notes on signs, transitions, etc.  

General notes:

-NO white socks unless someone told you to from costume or me.  Always dark brown, or black…we have socks coming in, but everyone in boots and knicker pants needs to wear eiter socks that cover knee or some kind or dark stretch pants or leggings…

-Wings – we can see ppl waiting in wings, costumes, set pieces – please stay as far back as possible and time your entrance accordingly—I am okay w you being ready, but let’s not let the set piece or your clothes leak out.

-Better job not hitting legs—still a few, so let’s work on that more.

-Live Mics – heard some cussing, chatter off stage…means you are talking in wings—need to not talk just after or just prior to scene…

-find audience/cheat out, watch postures, men shoulders back, faces up, check costumes as you ENT-saw mic packs, etc.  watch collars flipped up, etc.

-Ensemble roles – you guys make this show—we are watching you a lot: your crosses, transitions all with big energy, etc.  you help us create this world and anytime you are onstage no matter what keep in the scene and in character—stay in the moment—you need to ask yourself what will my character do int his scene—how to react, look, move.. Give yourself different movements to distinguish yourselves from others..I am going to focus on this the tonight and Friday/Saturday night for notes.

-3M practice pulling swords/guns w capes.

-do not break third wall unless told to—see a few on video..

Sc 1 Gascony = Sign Girls – make sure all signs face toward audience…

Cameron Gascony SL sign comes out as soon as Music starts for opening—after announcement…do not worry about moving to fast—take your time and courtesy maybe as leaving… When you go to move this sign off, come out w more intent—it’s scarey, guns going off…grab and move into the first wing so you avoid the Muskteers coming out—we do not delay…

Chris/Cole – good pacing—just a bit more emphasis on pace as you move to each other on the lines right after the last musketeer move….leading to hug.

Chris/cole - Love the they say they say, etc moments—nice work chris and cole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cole – be sure to look up after coin toss w amazement so his line works and cheat out so audience can see..it faces too much US.  Also, as soon as father crosses, get your sword sheathed—coin bag coming J

Cole – react bigger—more What the freak as your father talks about his buttercup while you hug mom..bigger question/puzzled loo,. head up little cheat out so we can see…

Do this for other horse lines.

Sherry – I kind want a slow look back at Chris as you talks about the horse, oats own 2 feet.  I did not want before, but want it now…give a look of—is he talking about me or his horse>>>>?????  Bring it up slow  too Cole and out to dad and then slowly you click and look out and back at father w a puzzled look… 

Do this for the other horse lines too…

Morgan – react bigger as well to his buttercup comments—you did a little one, but go even bigger.

Chris – live mics as you go off stage J

Cole – take buttercup with you as you leave stage…it’s set for you to grab and take—remember to take as if you are pulling a horse off.

Overall, love this scene—love everything…nice work kids!

Sc 2. – Cardinal’s courtyard - Cameron/Stephanie: No sign  for this scene, Cameron—sign needs to come off to gunshots, so be aware and take first wing.

Love this set up scene.

3M – we are going to move cameron’s sign change in and out of first wing, so come on stage immediately with columns on light change—do not wait for cardinal or anythig else.  Do not reset once set, if you can slide better…new columns are there today.

3M – make sure you really pop out from columns especially Aramis and Porthos…I am going to light you better.  Also watch spike marks – may spike is closer to wing.

Athos – bugger and move much faster….

Cardinal – kick that line out faster—I really hate them…bigger reaction and maybe vocally too…not yelling, but louder?  You are so far back that all your reactions need more facial and physicality when Up on platforms or behind scrims…

Sc. 3. – Mauriac – Cameron/Stephanie – Sign on SR, Nice job Steph—I think you winked?

Stage Manager – respike door so door is closer to scrim—not touching but close the gap so the sword swap is not scene.

Love, everything in this..

Rochefort – move away from scrim move—you keep hitting it w sword as you stand—take 1 step forward at all times.

Cole - Great job on this scene—really great!

Rochefort/Basille – excellent work laughing away!

Milady – nice emphasis out to audience on not quite done. 

Milady/Rochefort – if you can avoid walking on glass chards – great, if not, do not change blocking… but avoid as much as possible.

Chris Eden/sweep/bar keep – walk through Door as immediately after Cole’s – She was an angel. See mess on floor and begin sweeping away honked off…raise your hands when you first come out and shake head.

Scene 4 _Cameron/Stephanie: No sign for this scene. Only need to take off Mauriac

 love this scene—fun colorful, great personality

Cole – can you put back on your cape for this scene? 

SM – who ever picks up coles cape needs to get it back to him asap for next scene – please find out.

Remember you are far from audience, so always play big and bold on everytjhing from facials to physicality to vocals.

Treville, as soon as Musketeers come into room, go to stairs and stand—we have shadows in your face and we cannot really fix it…keep back open a bit more as you are getting documents, getting wine, etc.  angle/side profile when you get to desk.  Also, great work giving us how loony you think he is…make is slightly bigger though—we have a hard time seeing.

Cole – great work—very believable that you are embarrassed, but proud—that is the key—also when you come in, cheat out as you observe the rockstars, so we can at least get a profile of you in amazement over your heros

3M – great work—Aramis your god only knows is awesome—milk it baby cuz treville is giving you a big reaction.

Athos/Portho – even bigger reactions to Aramis’s god only knows…

Remember – this swing moment goes off you, so you make sure you are set—do not panic..we would like it to move along, but we can control it..you just grab, pull to right side completely and go, remember feet up.

Sc. 5 Paris – part of treville scene Cameron/Stephanie: No sign for this scene.

Timing it good.

Treville/Darty – keep a coin in your pocket to tip puppeteer. 

Cameron – tip jar and really go bigger on puppets,,,make puppets notice scenes—you cover their eyes, mouths, bow, etc..need bigger movements from you and them—interact w crowds…move your puppet to give tips..have fun.

Crosses look great. All feels right…Jon O—come out mad and cross through—not crazy, but more more emphasis and look around too…you have time I think…look both ways down street and then move through.

Cole – great work on fight lead in and when sherry crosses…also, hilarious fall w horse…we were rolling it looked so good, so nice job horse puller.  BE CAREFUL THOUGH…pillow or matt for you?

Cole/rochefort – good fight..

Morgan – remember come in on top stairs on for blowing my nose and pause and come down as Stephanie and solider go walking by and turn to watch, then turn back—you came down too early and it was clear you saw Darty.

We are going to start music later and everyone dive into the song..sing diddle, sing diddle..need bigger bar fun!  It is getting there, but still you can push it especially in the opening.

Porthos fun table – great work—you stayed soft when athos monologue and little bigger during the end…it was perfect…thank you. Looked fun too.

cole get your belt on as you discuss constance, etc…as soon as you say I am supposed to meet constance--get ready because you think you are taking sabine home, but athos stops you and tells you he will,b ut you are getting your belt on too.  maybe you dont take off belt and only pull your sword.

Great work on knock out—Cole remember to turn right and then left to make it feel like you are in motion and forget which way..add some color to it.

Athos – wait until light hits you to start war on the cardinal…

Darty/Darty/3M – Porthos will give you lessons on the sword pushoff on the last word …for all..love this ending.

Cardinal – call for rochefort two beat after choke to speed it up.

Darty – start and get your lines out immediately—I want choke to end earlier.

Porthos/Athos enter same time, except Porthos breaks to darty and pulls off.

Darty – be more in control—sell it, but be careful not to bump or kick, etc  It looks so real J

Great job getting in light.  We will move table chair back a bit to give you room.

Porthos – I need to get a blue feather into Darty’s hat—you will pull from yours and put in his hat and put hat back on head before all for one…let’s discuss when….

Darty – wear your hat into scene and either it will fly off or you will take if off as you talk about taking the hanging and we will add a feather from Porthos….let’s discuss.

 

3 17 Fight Notes Jonny/Michael

1:1 D'arty vs Father:

-Great Show Start

-Chris, keep the 'come at me bro' big

1:3 D'arty vs Roche I:

-Looks great

-Ragan, bring the bottle straight down

-Cole, give a vocal sound when you are struck with the knife—Cole make sure you are dazed awake and catch a glimpse of Milady kissing you—maybe eyes a bit wider.

Ragan – some sound on hit.

-Rochefort Kick – can we work on this Jonny?

1:5 D'arty vs Roche II:

-Jono, nice death

-Ben, good save on the gun – raise gun up higher into his face and stand taller faster—get gun up…

Ben, sell the stab more. Give a verbal reaction – do not fall into legs---just back out softly…eye the leg to step infront or behind…

1:7 Luxembourg:

-Cole, Justin, Love the add on - more please!

-Porthos - jonny and our discussion on a bow tot he soldiers as you work throug the scnee would be funny--

-Paul, it might feel long, but sell the 'Batman' punch from Jordan a little longer

and wait for the lines to happen

Darty—start moving quicker into Rochefort fight…anticipate this and begin moving towards him as JT comes in…move in an  assassin mode to get rochefort--you see him and you are pissed!, then when JT runs rochefort will see you and move into position and you will stop athos…the distance will close before and the fight will take less time to get into it.  Jonny will work with you and Athos on timing that.  You can still stop athos just likely not walking as you do it.  Think warriors, the movie gang fight.

1:9 Choke and Torture:

-Ben, punch was better. Maybe more angled in front of Cole's face. Considering changing

Mark, arch fingers slightly – lets work on the 2 choke moments—I want to cut them short and have Rochefort less choked and Cardinal less volume more control over all.

-Ben, get hands to Mark's hands a little faster to create the illusion. Awesome sell, though

-Cole/Ragan, you guys are making it work in the space. If the catch isn't working, make

it a parry and let the sword drop. Audience will buy the fast movement, if needed

-cole take gloves off for both  2:6 and 2:9….make it easier to rip dress and nicer to hold constance w bare ands.

2:7 Athos vs Milady:

-great..loved…. best yet…

-one thing,  be sure the gunshot happens between table and wing…DS more…the shot was too late, so I will have it come 2 beat after grab

-Ragan, good fall

-Justin, good distance with the gun

2:9 Milady vs Sabine:

-Morgan,awesome slap at the beginning--YESSSS

-Morgan, big anticipationon Ragan's firtst knife stab

3-16 Fight Notes from Jonny and Michael: General: Be aware of your sword tips. We did see a couple of times where scabbards/swords in belt hit the scrim behind the actor.  

SUGAR CANDY BOTTLE TONIGHT :-) 1:1 Father vs D'arty: -Good stuff. Great way to set the pace for the show--yes, loved it!  
-great sword toss....
Chris--get to stage quicker than we are doing--want to close that gap more--make it more threatening. 1:3 D'arty vs Roche I: -Cole, aim to whip the cloak over Ben's blade rather that throw it at him. May have been why he had trouble getting to his gun -Ragan, wait another beat before knocking out D'arty. Let the gun be a threat for a beat or two -Cole, give a vocal sound when you are struck with the knife
-cole: come awake more--open eyes--give us more of a lucid awake, so you can make a noise and it is noticable you are awake, knocked out again--also sells us later when Sabine comes out and you tell er about her..also, when sabine comes in, come awake more as well w head slightly out.
-Rochefort - get w jonny on the kick
-Ben: sword to kill darty - seemed like you struggled to get gun in belt - sword falling apart, etc..thank you for keeping it going and lceaning up bolts...lol
1:5 D'arty vs Roche II w/ Constance & Ravanche -Cole, awesome kill on Jono. Snap was the right speed - great work guys
-Ben, check your boots and cape position at all times- -Ben, sell the stab more. Give a verbal reaction
-Ben: nice bread hits too and the reaction to the bite was perfect.

1:7 Luxembourg: - fun, a few timing issues and lines dropped, but fun...keep the pace up and keep the faces up. - love the grunts.
-COLE/AUTHOS - loved it! nice work on your opening...cole nice work staying in bounds and not going into wing--it was a great sell as if you were falling off a cliff. look like you guys missed a move or paused for a move--be careful of that as you are directly ds. -Possible flub between Jono and Cole???? -Jarod, work those lines preshow to be sure the moves time correctly-- Leave more space between Porthos and guard
-Porthos/Taylor - cheat out more on the lines...porthos--maybe come downstage a bit more. - also, laugh more--have fun in this. 
-Aramis/JT/Paul/Morgan/Cole, great stuff....remember to cheat out on lines whenever possible.
-Porthos/Chris - great punches and knock out...classic
-JT/Taylor - if lines are forgotten or flubbed mix it up faster to cover...example, when Jared was delayed in lines--which does happen in a big moment liked, you guys don't freeze...help him w add in line to prompt or get out...Jared is experienced to know when you leave--he will give you a line out the door to get back on track w timing.
JT - turn your back away from audience on lines--get your back facing SL and cheat so we can see your express on your shoes untied, look, beat then high tail it.
Ben - liked to toss of JT onto stage, but work w him so he lands in the exact location for Porthos lines.
Paul - your fall was classic
Athos/Chris - we wll figure out the hang...--liked you two up top
Morgan - I think I will move you into the portals to hide and peek out during the darty fight, then come out swinging a sword...let's discuss.
1:8 Beggar Attack: -Chris, try to clear the cloak so it's not still hanging on your arm--liked the pace..nice work gents. 1:9 D'arty Torture: -Cole?, arch fingers slightly -Ben, get hands to Mark's hands a little faster to create the illusion. Awesome sell, though -Ben, punch to D'arty missed the mark (assigned target, not the Cardinal. Heh)
-Ben, first slap was great.
--Ben: wet willy not selling, so how about a ear pull? can you work w darty..does not have to be a real ear grab, just both of you sell it..loved the laugh after..

1:10 Enter Debris: -Thought I saw some timing issues with the ending. We can tighten during the week - liked the pace of the beginning better.
Porthos - any chance you can grab a flower and wave it at rochefort a little as he looks at you.

1:11 Mother Superior DIES!!!: -Morgan & Ragan, choke looks good - yes it was good....some how Mother ended up on the body though as there seemt to be a longer choke, but it really work.. rather than stand there..Mother--did you come in early or was choke longer? I think I liked it, watch it again tonight -Ragan, there was something a little awkward with the stab. Maybe not on the mark? 2:1 Montage Scene: -overall good - minor things that we know you know. 2:3 Darth Porthos: -Jarod, remember to move the fight downstage -Jarod & Sherry, run the fast swordplay before every show 
-J and S: S whisper, smile, take off....J: wait for a beat then chase her off..she should be past the bench
-team - check bench placement preshow to be sure it's on the mark--looked off and you guys moved it.
-S: We need to figure out a way to get you behind the bench cleaner--suggestin to move bench more SL to give you room to clear in front of fisher boys? let's discuss. this just means fight moves a few feet SL. 2:6 D'arty vs Milady: -Couple of missed marks. Was there enough room onstage? -If so, work the sword catch 
-overall great job though considering first time w a new chair under lights, etc. we should work the costume arm malfunction...

2:7 Athos vs Milady - great, great, great. -Looks great -Ragan, awesome fall -Gun shot was drowned out by the actors movement. Gun shot need to have a kick to it - make that gunshot further SL of table and downstage more....so we can see you upclose...I am okay with it being even w table or closer to DS, so split difference between table and SL wing and bring DS more.

-Actors go silent for two beats after the gun shot. 2:9 Milady vs Sabine -Morgan, don't anticipate the first stab
-remember cast swords w strong intent--do not mark/place swords...
-remember to not wait for next move--as soon as you see each other's eye go like bucking rams--there were a lot of pauses that seems over dramatic.
-several marking moments versus showing intent, fear, threat, anger, kickAZZ movements. let's review this preshow. remember between moves it has to look far more desperate and that ttere is a threat on you. even if you crawl to sword at first. need sell it more.
-the Ragan laugh was perfect, morgan's face was priceless and kill is so good - work w david on timing the music.
-we did notice the fight hit a bigger , good rhythm too more it went--let's get that at beginning
-morgan slap of ragan - need to work on that and either knap it or go for it....let's discuss today.
-Morgan, show no fear as you walk up to slap her...grow tall in your stature..big. anger. Think Kill Bill. - Uma.
